This is it, the ultimate in healthy, quail eggs… the best thing you can ever have for breakfast or as an appetizer. If you want to read about the benefits there’s a lot of information out there, I have to tell you, pretty amazing. Anyway, it seems it is pretty popular in Japan in those sushi places but their recipes are usually not for the faint of heart and this is why I got some inspiration from the mighty web and brought you an easy recipe that can be done in no time and it is FANTASTIC. Well, to be honest I even tried to drink a raw egg and it is very good; far from the chicken eggs texture and taste, the raw quail egg is full of flavour.
Now the ingredients are pretty simple and guaranteed to impress your guests… in one way or another. Put it this way, if they like it, they will be totally surprised by your level of cooking refinement which will give you bragging rights for many years to come. If they don’t like it, will probably gross some people out enough to keep them away from your food which means that you can enjoy the eggs all by yourself and, spend less money on food for your parties; looks like a win-win situation to me. 🙂 Anyway, given enough amount of enthusiasm and alcohol, I am absolutely sure they will make everybody very happy; ignorants usually don’t go to parties so you are safe.
This recipe can be changed any way you like, you can probably use onions instead of chives, add some pepper or hot sauce or just think jalapeño if you like extremes. No matter what you do in the end one thing is for sure, these little eggs are delicious. Have fun!
- 4 quail eggs
- 1tbsp bacon, fried and finely chopped
- 1tsp chives or fresh onion
- salt to taste
- Get some water boiling in medium size saucepan and poach your eggs for not more than 20 seconds (I'm serious!), then run under cold water briefly.
- Remove their tops which is pretty difficult and sprinkle the bacon, chives and some salt
- Serve immediately!
