Kiwi and Watermelon Salad

Kiwi Watermelon Salad

I don't know if I said this before but, I really like salads. I am not a vegetarian or vegan or whatever these guys call themselves but somehow I always had a weakness for a good salad. Probably is something left over from my childhood when parents always bug you with the darn greens, who knows, the fact is I always try to find new recipes and if I cannot then I use my imagination. Now, during one … [Read more...]

Negroni

Negroni

"While the drink's origins are unknown, the most widely reported account is that it was invented in Florence, Italy in 1919, at Caffè Casoni, ex Caffè Giacosa, now called Caffè Cavalli. Count Camillo Negroni invented it by asking the bartender, Fosco Scarselli, to strengthen his favorite cocktail, the Americano, by adding gin rather than the normal soda water." -Wikipedia Pretty cool, eh? … [Read more...]

Quail Eggs Crostini

Quail Eggs Crostini

Crostini (meaning "little toasts" in Italian) are an Italian appetizer consisting of small slices of grilled or toasted bread and toppings. You can use all sorts of cheese, meats and vegetables or you can make it into a bruschetta, just olive oil and herbs. However if you like quail eggs, you can combine them with a slice of prosciutto, a couple of cherry tomatoes and some other things and turn it … [Read more...]

Beans and Sausages Stew

Beans and Sausage

This is definitely a winter dish but I guess if you make it spicy enough you can probably enjoy it during summer too. Anyway, I am positive nobody cares about my stories so I will get right down to it. I think this is the best beans stew to date, as far as I'm concerned, and since I am not a chili fan, I loaded this dish with a lot of... awesome pork. Now, you can go buy two cans of … [Read more...]

Caprese Salad

Insalata Caprese

This is my own version of insalata caprese but it is not far from the original recipe ... I think. Anyway, the original uses generous slices of  mozzarella which I replaced with bocconcini, still mozzarella cheese but in a cuter form and Campari tomatoes, best tomatoes out there. Add all this to my favorite breakfast, eggs and sausages and you have a winner. [amd-zlrecipe-recipe:17] … [Read more...]

Classic Mojito

Classic Mojito

Summer is basically gone but that's only for those of us living up North, the smart ones still enjoy lots of heat down at the tropics ...sigh. Oh well, maybe someday after I get famously rich with my blog ... until then though nothing will stop me from enjoying a mojito everytime we get a little bit of Sun up here, who cares if you freeze your... bones off, it's the attitude that … [Read more...]

Greek Salad

Greek Salad

Greek salad is another one of my favorites. You can think of it as a summer salad but it works just fine no matter the season. I like to follow the traditional recipe most of the time but having bell peppers in my salad doesn't work for me so I skip them every single time. However, if you like you can add them as well but stay away from boring combinations like beets or lettuce since they do not … [Read more...]

Blueberry and Banana Smoothie

Blueberry - Banana Smoothie

It is not really a smoothie if you ask me, but more of a frozen drink, like a Slurpee I reckon. Every time I had a sip from this thing, my brain was instantly frozen so make sure you don't use a straw no matter what, the sensation is quite painful. :) Still, you can probably use fresh berries instead of frozen, skip the ice as well and turn it into a boring and uneventful smoothie but, if you feel … [Read more...]

Americano

Americano

If you like your drink a bit more sophisticated than the regular pint, here is an example made from Cinzano and Campari that for some reason I can barely find at my 'usual' liquor store. When I find them though, this is by far my favorite cocktail... ok I can't fully dismiss the pint yet but this is for a different mood. Did you know this was the first James Bond drink in the original Casino … [Read more...]

Banana and Mango Smoothie

Mango and Banana Smoothie

If you don't care about summer too much and you enjoy a chilled fruit drink no matter the season, I think I got just the thing. Banana and Mango smoothie is definitely my favorite but, then again I never met a smoothie that I didn't like... well sort of anyway. There is not much to tell about this recipe, basically you can blend any kinda of fruits into a smoothie but not all combinations actually … [Read more...]
